Training at NSS


I believe that I have a unique perspective when it comes to NSS. Recently, I've had the opportunity to both train and intern with NSS. In both cases, I have nothing but good things to say! I trained with NSS last winter and spring with my Concordia volleyball teammates as well as the Concordia football team. I can honestly say that they helped me get into the best physical shape of my life. This past summer and fall I interned for NSS and what impressed me the most about Noonan's was their client-specific programming. The trainers truly take a customized and personal approach with each and every athlete. No matter what sport(s) the athlete is involved in and what training goals they have, NSS will tailor the workouts to meet the individual's needs and achieve their goals. I definitely would recommend Noonan's to any athlete looking to noticeably improve their overall athleticism and to any student looking for a great internship.

The NSS Staff has designed programs to train me for both Volleyball and Softball at Moorhead State University Moorhead.  I have been training with them the past two years, and I cant tell you how much the have improved my athleticism.  NSS has helped me in every aspect of both sports I played.  I have trained on my own and with other training facilities over the years; NSS is the best I have ever experienced.  The programs are designed specifically for the female athlete, this gave me the specific training I needed to improve my athleticism and avoid the injuries associated with female athletes.  Every drill I worked on helped me to become a complete athlete.  If you are a female athlete looking to unleash your athletic potential you need to call them now.  Its never to late to start working towards your goals as an athlete.

NSS was the perfect way for me to work out during the summer in addition to my basketball workouts. I was looking for a program that was going to help me become more powerful and flexible, in hope of becoming faster and overall, a better athlete on the court. NSS provided me with this and more. The trainers did drills specific to my sport and in the end I made huge gains in speed, power, and flexibility. The program demands a lot, which helps mentally because the things I did not think I could do actually could be done. Working out at NSS never felt like it was a job like sometimes a workouts feel like; they made sure every athlete was getting the most out of every drill and fun activities were also thrown in the mix. All of the trainers were willing to help us all out at any time and they treated the athletes with respect. This program is also great for college athletes because it is affordable and the trainers are willing to adjust to athlete's work schedules. I had an awesome experience at NSS and I owe a lot to the trainers for the success I had on the basketball court over the years.

NSS's philosophy of intense, no-nonsense workouts tailored to the goals and needs of the individual athlete were a perfect fit for me. The staff pushes you to your limits without overtraining, ensuring the maximum gain out of every workout. The workouts they planned for me were unique, intense, and very effective. I've had the pleasure to work with Dominic (NSS) in a variety of manners; discussing strength and conditioning philosophy, administration and coordination matters, and most recently knowing him as a friend. He is very approachable; a parent or child should feel comfortable discussing the diverse topics involved with training.

In the upper Midwest, I place Dominic Noonan at the top of the Strength and Conditioning Coaches. His philosophy for training his inspired athletes is practical to the sport. Simply look at his success record of the athletes that Dom has been involved with.

My back ground includes a university degree (B.S.) in an exercise physiology related field, followed with being a Doctor of Chiropractic and then acquiring the highest American credentialed training in Sports Chiropractic and the only American to achieve this credential via a fulltime fellowship. I am also certified as a strength and conditioning coach and have worked in the field of training and treating athletes of all levels (young to professional) and all over the world. I am currently working on my PhD in the field of Muscle Neurophysiology.

Therefore, my opinion of Dom and his training principles are based on practical and scientific elements. I highly recommend NSS. BUT, don't take my word for it…call Dom now…I know he'll be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

The trainers of NSS have done an outstanding job with my collegiate volleyball players at Valley City State University. They have the latest techniques in lifting, plyometric training, and agility training that will help increase overall strength, stability, balance, quickness and explosiveness with the vertical jump. They understand how to coach young women, and do an excellent job of explaining what the technique is, how to execute the technique, and why the technique is used. I plan on sending my athletes to them for years to come!

Reasons why I train and keep coming back to NSS...... Dom and all of the trainers know what they are talking about, and know what is right and what is wrong.  Dom has taught them every way to maximize an athletes potential in every lift and exercise.  NSS also has a very nice facility to work out at, which results in a great environment to work out everyday.  Another thing that is nice about NSS is that it is much cheaper than all competitors.  Even if others were cheaper than NSS I would still find myself going back because the quality of the workouts and simply NSS makes you a better athlete for your sport.  I have been to almost every other lifting and workout facilities and they don't compare, you get more for your money at NSS.

NSS has been beneficial for me for many reasons.  After two years of being a member with Noonan I saw a significant difference in strength, endurance, flexibility, and increase of speed.  Although I noticed a huge change is strength my size and physique was maintained.  I lost weight through the very difficult conditioning exercises and built muscles through the unique lifting.  Until being introduced to Noonan I had not been pushed to the level I needed to in order to succeed.  I had trouble with focusing while I was tired and he created exercises to help me get better.  Dominic used a sport-specific program to increase my individual performance and to ensure my success.  Without NSS I would not be a division one athlete.

The NSS program was perfect for our daughter because it got her excited about working out – which wasn't something she really had experienced before. She knew the results she wanted to see. Dominic & Staff helped her make the connection between the workout and the results. This was exactly what she needed; and she DID experience the results on the soccer field last season. Based on her experience, we're asking Dominic to work some magic with our son also.

NSS knows how to push the participants to the next level when they are ready. My son has improved his strength, balance, speed, flexibility, and endurance. As parents we are happy to see the positive aspects the training provides and the dedication of the athletes to the program. I've worked out with the trainers at NSS for the past six summers. Not only are they great trainers, but they're also great people. From the first day you walk in to train with the staff they treat you with respect, yet at the same time demanding, without saying so, the same respect from you. However great of guys they may be, while they're training you they don't always seem like such nice guys. They push you to your limits and demand that you give 100% all the time, whether you're doing sprints or just tennis ball drills for hand-eye co-ordination. They always expect that you put forth your best effort and if you do they'll be happy with you, just like you'll be happy with yourself. If you give a half-ass effort, however, they're likely to not only get on you to work harder, but may even just tell you to leave because you're wasting not only your time but their time also. Working out at NSS showed me what having a great work ethic really meant. It means that you work hard not only on the days that you feel good and feel motivated, but you work just as hard on the days you may be tired or hungry or have a bit of a headache. All this hard work pays off too. All of my teammates and I worked out at NSS and the improvements that we showed, through strength, speed, agility, hand-eye, etc. were unbelievable. I was probably a kid of average strength when I started working out with NSS, yet when I went in for pre-season testing when I was a sophomore I squated 405 lbs. three times. My bench press also went up drastically, from benching barely over 150 one time to being able to put up 185 lbs. in just one summer. That's huge, especially in a lift that's extremely hard to move up weight in. To sum up NSS I would say that they get you to get the best out of yourself and prepare you better for your upcoming seasons, or just to get in great shape, better than any strength training program that I've ever heard of or tried. They're great guys and great trainers and they'll make great athletes out of you!

The reason why I choose to go to NSS was because I wanted to gain more muscle mass by working with a fun staff and other athletes who were committed to their sport as I was.  I have worked out at two other facilities and didn't feel "at home" like I do at Noonan.  Every time I walk in I am greeted with a friendly smile and a hello.  Noonan offers are wide variety of drills and lifts that normally are not incorporated into a workout program.  Each day I had something different and was excited to work out.  The trainers make going to work out fun by joking around, yet still focusing on why we were there.  I recommend going to work out at NSS because you are having a blast doing it, but still bettering yourself and getting better at the same time.
